In the 3rd stage of the European F3 Championship, Jüri Vips achieved victory and second place with excellent performances.
In the first qualifying session at the Norisring track, Jüri Vips qualified eighth for the opening race and managed to move up one place to finish seventh. Saturday evening's second qualifying session set the starting order for Sunday's races and Vips set a very good lap time to finish fourth and second respectively.
In the second race on Sunday morning, Jüri Vips made a very good start and finished third. He then managed to make two passes to take the lead and Vips successfully held this position until the finish. The third race on the Norisring was marked by a number of accidents and three times a safety car was sent to the track. Jüri Vips of the Motorpark team, who started in second place, also fought for first place throughout the race and crossed the finish line just a few hundredths of a second behind the winner. Thanks to his good results over the weekend, Jüri Vips moved up to 6th place in the European F3 Championship points table with 70 points.
Jüri Vips: "In the first qualifying the track was drying out after the rain and on the last fast lap I made a couple of mistakes myself. But in the second qualifying everything went very well and I also managed to make a very good start in the second race. In the last race I made a mistake at the start, but the rest of the race, as far as we could drive between the pits, went very well. The car was working great and if the race had gone one more lap I probably would have won that one as well. It seems to be coming together now, and with the points standings very close and seven rounds to go, there could still be a shot at the championship."
