Hannes Soomer (Honda, Vihur Motosport) is betting on rain at the Estonian Grand Prix, as last weekend's experience at the IDM stage on the Red Bull Ring highlighted his Honda's setup shortcomings on a wet track. "It would be good if it rained at the Grand Prix because then we would find a rain set-up that works in familiar conditions. The sixth round of the IDM is in just two weeks' time and we need to have all the answers by Assen," said Soomer, who currently holds second place in the German championship standings, of his expectations for this weekend's race at the Porsche Ring.
In the Superbike class, in addition to Soomeri and Pärtelpoja, the reigning Estonian champion Hanno Velt (Aprilia), Mihkel Osula (BMW, both Vihur Motosport) and many other fast riders from Estonia and Latvia will be on the track. In addition to the Superbikes, there will be Superstock 600, Supersport 300, B1200, C1200 and C600 class winners from the Baltic States and Finland.
Motorbike practice starts on Friday 11 August at 13:25, and qualifying at 14:10. Motorcycle class races will start on Saturday 12 August at 10:00. FRESH-EST OÜ is offering a prize fund of €10,000 for participants in the Supersport 300, Superstock 600 and Superbike/B1200 races. This year's special prize from Estonian watchmaker AEGAON will go to the fastest youngster in the Supersport 300 class.
