At the 3rd stage of the European Sword Championships in Germany, Paul Aron won the first place in the OK Junior class, and thanks to the stage victory he became the leader of the points table again.
In the qualifying of the stage at Ampfing Sword Circuit, Paul Aron set the best lap time and went into Saturday's heats as the favourite. But by Saturday's heats the track conditions had changed and it took the team and Aron some time to adapt. But by the final heats on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, the team had managed to make the necessary changes to the set-up and the young Estonian won the final two heats. The reward was a third place on the grid for the final. In the final, Paul Aron made a very good start and took the lead already on the second lap, a position he never relinquished.
"Paul showed a really mature race over the weekend," commented Ralf Aron, who watched his younger brother's race from the sidelines. "By Saturday morning the track was nearly a second slower and Paul's car was not in the best position to do so. But the team did a fantastic job and the car was competitive again for the final heats. Paul himself also managed to regroup and although he led the final from the second lap onwards, the race was very tight and close."
After three stages, Paul Aron now has 69 points and his closest rivals are 17 points behind him ahead of the final stage in August.
