The region's largest car and motorcycle circuit race, the Feltcar Estonian Grand Prix, which will take place at the Porsche Ring in Pärnu on 10-11 August, will bring more than 140 competitors from seven countries to the track.
For the car classes the competition is part of the Finnish Touring Car Championship and the Estonian Cup, for the motorcycle classes it is part of the Estonian and Latvian Championships.
"In the motorcycle classes, the top Estonian rider Hannes Soomer is expected to take to the track, as well as several other fast riders," said Toivo Asmer, who founded the Estonian Grand Prix ten years ago. "The Estonian Grand Prix of Historic Formula Cars will bring to the track, among other things, Estonian-made Formula Cars Estonia, which is symbolic in this year of multiple anniversaries. Finnish Formula One drivers will add to the competition."
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the founding of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Estonian Automobile Club, the predecessor of the Estonian Automobile Federation (EAL). "Both anniversaries will also be celebrated at the event," added Asmer.
Once again, the Estonian supercar Kalana is expected to be on the track with Tõnis Vanaselj at the wheel. "At last year's Estonian Grand Prix, Vanaselja drove Kalana to a new Porsche Ring record of 1.09,111. This year, the aim is to set a new record."
The races start on Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 August at 10.00, with the opening ceremony on 10 August at 13.00. The Feltcar Estonian Grand Prix is traditionally accompanied by a prestigious entertainment programme.
