On 14 and 15 May, despite the global pandemic and restrictions, the first round of the Northern European Zone and Baltic Touring Car Championship will be held at the Bikernieki race track, with a large number of participants but no spectators allowed in the stands.
More than 100 participants have already registered for the competition.
You can follow the coverage on sport.postimees.ee on Saturday 14.05 from 10.00-21.30 and Sunday 15.05 from 12.30-18.00.
"The pandemic constraints of course pose more challenges and responsibilities, but we are pleased that we have been able to make the event possible and we can promise that the event will be safe for participants and staff. We're also delighted with the high level of interest from the riders, so I'm sure we'll have an exciting first race of the season, which will be a great start to the championship! " says BaTCC Director Andis Meilands.
World-class cars will take part in the most prestigious Baltic series - the Baltic 6h Endurance Championship, which has so far attracted 15 entries in cars such as the Lamborghini Huracan ST, Porsche GT3 Cup and TCR, as well as a number of 3l and 2l cars. Latvian heroes "Flash Racing Latvia" and "LV Racing" will challenge fast and experienced teams such as "Juta Racing", "Čapkauskas Autocentras", "Porsche Baltic" and others.
Exciting battles are likely to be experienced in the "BMW 325 CUP", where more than 30 competitors from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are expected to take to the track. Equal rules for all cars will ensure that the best car wins.
There will also be plenty of powerful cars in the GT class, where three Lamborghini "Huracan ST" cars are expected on the start line, along with cars such as the Chevrolet "Corvette", Nissan "GTR", Audi "TT RS", Porsche "GT3 Cup" and many others. It is expected that the GT car circuit record will be broken this weekend.
The "TCR" field now consists of four cars, with a few more competitors expected. There are around 20 cars starting in several BTC classes. The race will be concluded with the "Nankang Endurance Academy" class.
