During the HRX Grand Prix in Pärnu on 11-12 August, everyone will be able to see for the first time the Kalana, a supercar created by Estonian engineers and costing over a million euros.
According to Toivo Asmer, founder of the Grand Prix and President of the Estonian Motor Sports Association, the Kalana, Estonia's first supercar, is a feat of domestic engineering.
"Figuratively speaking, this car can deliver a Formula 1-like driving experience, but it looks more like Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other GT cars. The Kalana is an example of what Estonian engineers can do when given the right tools and an ambitious goal," said Asmer.
Tõnis Vanaselja, founder of Oldbac, the company that launched Kalana, and a former Estonian Formula One champion, added that the Estonian Grand Prix, or Great Race, is no longer just a racing event, but an entertainment event for the whole family.
"This is a festival where the next generation of our engineers and tech entrepreneurs will be inspired and inspired by their elders. So the Great Race is the right place to bring Kalana to the people," explained Vanaselja.
The Kalana is a V-8-powered, 66-kilogram carbon monocoque sports car with a carbon fibre canopy that weighs 920 kilograms and develops 610 horsepower. Top speed is between 280 and 340 km/h, depending on the setting.
The Estonian supercar Kalana will be on display at the Porsche Ring in Pärnu on 11-12 August as part of the HRX Grand Prix cultural programme. Every visitor to the festival will be able to see the fresh supercar, take a picture with it and hear the story of Kalana's arrival live from the source and ask questions.
More than 130 cars and motorcycles are expected to take part in the HRX Estonian Grand Prix, the largest car and motorcycle circuit race in the region. The event is also part of the Finnish and Estonian championships.
